The beginning of the long-awaited winter season 2016/2017 is very nearly upon us and Meribel has recently been voted as the best ‘Family Friendly’ ski resort in Europe so you can be sure that there are plenty of activities both on and off the slopes to keep everyone entertained, whatever your age.
Meribel has been fortuitous with some particularly heavy early snowfall which has provided a good base of snow at just above resort level. This is a sign of a good (fingers crossed) season to come.
So what’s new for the 2016 season? Not only is the resort looking fantastic due to the early snow but there are many new amenities both on and off piste and it’s not just for adults, there are new child friendly activities too.
The Meribel Resort
Meribel is revered throughout the Three Valleys as one of the prettiest resorts and villages and rightly so. This year you will be pleased to find a brand new “aire de chainage” which is a space below Les Allues for chaining your vehicle's tires. This addition to the picturesque Meribel Village will be a place for visitors to prep their cars and vans for the snow and ice if you haven’t done so already.
Free WiFi on Piste extended!
As we become more and more reliant on our devices the reliance of connectivity has never been so important. This is certainly the case when it comes to booking accommodation and this year the WiFi has been extended across many new areas including the summit of Plan des Mains chairlift, the chill zone in DC Area 43, the Yooni Slalom in the Yeti Park,
The Children’s Yeti Park
This very popular addition to the Mottaret which opened last year has been extended. As well as the trumpets and tunnels that were opened last season there is now a fantastically fun zip-wire, toboggans and igloos for your children to enjoy.
As always you will be sure to find Yooni the friendly yeti in the family friendly park. This excellent amenity is accessible on ski’s or on foot and also has an easily accessible Green run.
Elements Park (previously the Moon Park)
The rebranded and highly rated Elements Park has also seen investment. The boardercross piste now allows four skiers at the same time thanks to the piste being widened.
The Element park is widely know as one of the best parks in the Trois Vallees and is perfect for all freestylers, which is an ever more popular ski and snowboard discipline of it’s own right. Visitors of all levels and abilities are welcome in this freestyle park and will benefit from the soft impact boxes, rails and jibs designed with trying your very first tricks in mind.Q
Also introduced for the winter season is horse riding and sleigh tours
Enjoy the tranquillity and experience the beautiful views of the Meribel valley on horseback or choose to relax and ride on a sleigh, have an adventure with ski-joering and discover the resort's beautiful scenery.
Snake Gliss, a fun filled mountain adventure!
Are you looking for a fun après-ski snow activity? The snake gliss sledge is brand new and will be exactly what you are looking for. Take your place on-board this snake sledge with an ESF guide and slide down from the top of the Rhodos gondola lift to Chaudanne. A fun and exhilarating way to finish your day on the slopes!
