What’s New for 2023?

16 January 2023

From new runs and lifts to family fun and the World Ski Championships, the new season offers avid skiers and snowboarders more than ever!

New challenges await

We’ll start at the top. Just up the valley from Méribel centre, our sister resort of Méribel-Mottaret boasts a brand new black run. ‘L’Ibex’ features a steep natural slope, deceptively short at 600 metres long – accompanied by 300 metres of vertical descent. To access the new run, take the Bouquetin chairlift to 2,700m and enjoy the new run with the ‘Vertical Experience’ stamp of approval.

For those seeking a challenge but avoiding the steepest of the steep, the new ‘Le Roc’ slope is a perfect introduction to ski touring. Starting at the top of the Chalets gondola, the 2 km trail is clearly marked and secured from avalanches, providing a 370-metre climb with breathtaking views. At the top of the climb, you’ll be rewarded with a breather in the chalet before comfortably descending on the piste.

The dining scene evolves

After serving Méribel for more than 60 years, local favourite Kiki has evolved to become Fifi. With a complete interior renovation and a new concept, Fifi will continue Kiki’s tradition of quality Italian cuisine accompanied by excellent service and a warm alpine atmosphere. The Italian-inspired cocktails in the renovated bar are a highlight!

Located in Mérible centre, PARTAJO is a newly-opened Savoyarde restaurant serving local specialities alongside an impressive wine list. The restaurant features a fresh, modern interior and is run by an experienced, professional team, making this a new star in Méribel’s dining scene.

Solar’s time to shine

As ski resorts move toward more sustainable technology and energy supply, solar panels will become a recognisable feature of the mountains. Méribel has started to play its part, with the introduction of 182 panels at the Saulire Express gondola intermediate station. The panels absorb solar energy from above as well as from the ambient light reflecting from the surrounding snow, making them extremely efficient and able to power the majority of the Saulire Express’ operations.

Fun for the family

Further down the slopes, improvements have been made to firm family favourites, the Piste des Inuits and the Animal Trail. Both have had makeovers and feature new activities and additions for everyone to enjoy.

Don’t lose your charge

Whether you’re enjoying family activities or snapping your completed black run, the last thing you need is a mobile phone with a dead battery. To avoid frustrating moments, new locked charging stations have been installed in front of le Mont Vallon Hotel, at the Plain des Mains and Plattieres lift arrival stations, and at the departure station at the Bouquetin.

The world comes to the Three Valleys

Finally, the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships will arrive in the Three Valleys in February. Beginning on 5 February, the championships will bring the best skiers in the world to Méribel and Courchevel, as the slopes host the full range of alpine skiing events – from downhill and Super G to slalom, giant slalom and the spectacular parallel races.

We’re looking forward to enjoying all the new additions in Méribel this season, and welcoming our guests to the Three Valleys. See you on the slopes!
